Records, 1940-1941.

The records are part of the files of D. M. Becker, Division Passenger Agent in Philadelphia, and date from 1940 and 1941. They represent one package that survived by virtue of being misfiled at the Merion Avenue warehouse. The most important files concern certain luxury trains that had been established relatively recently, including The East Wind, The Jeffersonian, The Southerner, The Tennessean, and The Trail Blazer, and the projected Steel King whose introduction was delayed by World War II. There are some notes on the running of extra trains for the National Guard, part of the pre-war mobilization, and a file on the program allowing tourists to ship their automobiles by train in advance which also includes issues of the company newsletter LCL.
